Born Jinnat Indira Henley in Keene, New Hampshire, being multi-racial with parents who come from Trinidad and the US Virgin Islands shaped a big part of the artist and person she is today. Growing up listening to 80s pop divas gave her a love for the music of her parents' generation, which has been a big influence on her artistry. Jinnat showed an exuberant demonstration of talent early on, starting to sing at only two years old.
As a youth, she taught herself how to play guitar and began performing locally. In 2016, she performed at Ryan Seacrest Studios at the Levine Children's Hospital. The decision to pursue music full time led to the release of debut singles Young Forever and DIVA, the latter of the two singles becoming a semi-finalist in ISC's 2020 international song competition.
Jinnat continues to explore her artistry with BADDER, a track heavily influenced by hip hop. Back To You shows the versatility of Jinnat's vocals in an R&B ballad, a much softer sound in comparison to singles BADDER and latest release PLAY, which delves further into her hip hop influences, and the performance of which won her second place in Concert Crave's 2023 Winter Artist Showcase. Jinnat continues to develop her sound and is currently working on her next release.
Season 1 of DIVA DIARIES shows Jinnat's creative processes and daily routines. You'll see Jinnat recording, collaborating with other artists, creating and releasing BADDER, teaching a Tik Tok dance class at a local Charlotte YMCA, Behind the scenes of filming, and more! Watch Season 2, for current updates!
